Bichir was born in Torreón, the son of actors Alejandro Bichir and Maricruz Nájera. His brothers, Odiseo and Bruno, are also actors. He worked at the National Theater Company, performed Shakespeare and Dostoyevsky, and won several awards from the Mexican Association of Theater Critics. He attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and worked at the Rosa Mexicano Restaurant.\n', '

Bichir played Fidel Castro in Che and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in A Better Life. He starred in the FX series The Bridge and Quentin Tarantino\'s western film The Hateful Eight. His directorial debut film, Un Cuento de Circo & A Love Song, premiered at the Morelia International Film Festival. Bichir starred in Alien: Covenant, the second prequel film of the Alien series. He starred in The Conjuring prequel film The Nun and joined the cast for the film Chaos Walking, based on Patrick Ness\' trilogy novels. In March 2018, Bichir starred in the ABC remake Grand Hotel, based on the Spanish television series.\n', '

Bichir has been in a relationship with Canadian actress Stefanie Sherk since 2011. He married Lisset from 2001 to 2003. His daughter, Gala (born 2011), is from a brief relationship with a Spanish woman. He is an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Ambassador for Immigration Rights.\n', '
