James Michael McBain (born February 25, 1988) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played with the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). McBain was born in Edina, Minnesota, but grew up in Faribault, Minnesota. He attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.\n', '

McBain was drafted in the third round, 63rd overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. On March 26, 2009, he signed a three-year, $1.8 million, entry-level contract with the Hurricanes.\n', '
