Miller was born in New York City. He would play for the Brooklyn Robins, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago Cubs. The son of a wrestler and strongman, he wielded a 47-ounce bat and occasionally used a bat weighing 65 ounces. His nickname "Hack" was due to his resemblance to wrestler Georg Hackenschmidt.\n', '
On August 25, 1922, Miller hit two 3-run home runs to help the Cubs beat the Phillies, 26–23 in the highest scoring game in major league history.\n', '
After 25 years as a longshoreman, Miller died in Oakland, California.\n', '
