Fultz was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 6th round of the 1992 Major League Baseball Draft, he spent the first three seasons of his Major League career with them (2000–2002), compiling a 10-5 record in 167 games played (181.2 innings pitched). From there, he began his career as a journeyman pitcher, trying to find his niche out of someone\'s bullpen.
