Conley was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 32nd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft out of Olympia High School in Olympia, Washington. He did not sign and instead attended Washington State University. In 2011, as a junior, he went 6-7 with a 3.50 ERA in 16 starts.
