He played Major League Baseball from 1930 to 1934 for the Chicago Cubs, Boston Braves, Washington Senators, and St. Louis Browns. He appeared in 83 major league games, all but seven as a relief pitcher, and compiled a record of 10-4 with an ERA of 5.69. McAfee also played college baseball for the University of Michigan from 1927 to 1929 and participated in the Michigan Wolverines baseball team\'s 13-game tour of Japan in the fall of 1929.
