Finley was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. As a youth, he played in the 1995 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Sault Ste. Marie. He was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the first round, sixth overall of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.[citation needed]\n', '
Finley played most of his junior hockey as a member of the Barrie Colts of the OHL, before being traded in his final year to the Brampton Battalion. While with the Barrie Colts he led the team to the Finals of the Memorial Cup in 2000 where they lost to the Rimouski Océanic 6–3. Finley played as primarily the backup goalie for the Canadian Junior Hockey Team at the World Junior Hockey Tournament in 1999 and 2000.[citation needed]\n', '
Finley spent the majority of his career playing in the AHL for the Milwaukee Admirals as a solid goalie. He won the Calder Cup with the Admirals in 2004. He played two career games for the Nashville Predators in the NHL, allowing 10 goals in 107 minutes.[citation needed]\n', '
