Camilla Rutherford was born to (Gordon) Malcolm Rutherford (1939-1999), a financial journalist for the Financial Times and sometime advisor to Margaret Thatcher, and his second wife, Elizabeth (née Pelen), a magistrate, daughter of a French ambassador.
