Jiménez was signed as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2001; he was signed by Mariners scout Emilio Carrasquel. That year, he took part in the Mariners Fall Instructional League.\n', '
In 2002, he excelled being named Dominican Team\'s Most Valuable Pitcher by the Mariners organization, he went 7–1 with a 0.83 earned run average in 65.1 innings of work. He also pitched in Peoria and Everett, going a combined 2–1, 2.78 ERA in 22.2 innings in 9 relief games between the two teams. At the end of the season, he participated in the 2002 Arizona Instructional League.\n', '
He appeared in 28 games (20 starts) for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2003 and won three consecutive starts twice. He was named to the Midwest League All-Star Team and played for Lara in the Venezuelan Winter League.\n', '
