After seventh grade his family moved to Arlington, Texas, where his father eventually got into the barbeque business, opening up Babb Brothers BBQ & Blues in nearby Dallas. It was here that he attended The Oakridge School where he averaged 31.2 points while helping his school to a 26-3 record and a district championship as a senior.
