He attended Loyola Marymount University, and was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 19th round (582nd overall) of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft.\n', '

In September 2009, he was called up to the Los Angeles Angels and made his major league debut. In his first major league at bat, Pettit singled in the seventh inning, and later scored on a Howie Kendrick double. He appeared in 10 games for the Angels in 2009, and had 2 hits in 7 at-bats.\n', '
