Stigma\'s professional career lasted 14 seasons (1954–67). In his rookie campaign, 1960 with Cleveland, he had posted a 4–4 win–loss record with three complete games and a 3.32 earned run average through June 30. Surprisingly, he was selected to the American League All-Star team by manager Al López, but he failed to appear in either of that summer\'s All-Star games (from 1959–62, two such games were played each year).
