As a youth, Janik played in the 1994 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Springfield, Massachusetts.\n', '

Janik was drafted 55th overall, in the second round, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
