Richardson was drafted in the fifth round of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft by the Boston Red Sox, and made his professional debut for the Lowell Spinners that year. He spent the majority of the 2008 season on the roster of the Portland Sea Dogs of the Eastern League and was invited to his first Major League spring training in 2009.\n', '
