Yitzhak Edward Asner (/ΛΓ¦snΙr/; born November 15, 1929) is an American actor, voice actor and a former president of the Screen Actors Guild. He is primarily known for his role as Lou Grant during the 1970s and early 1980s, on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series Lou Grant, making him one of the few television actors to portray the same leading character in both a comedy and a drama. He played John Wayne\'s adversary Bart Jason in the 1966 Western El Dorado.
