Kelly played professionally for eight years. In 1975, he played a single season with the Hartford Bicentennials in the North American Soccer League. In 1976, he played for the Utah Golden Spikers of the American Soccer League. In 1979, he signed with the New Jersey Americans.\n', '

Kelly earned two caps with the United States men\'s national soccer team in August 1975 at the Mexico City Cup. His first game was a 6–0 loss to Argentia on August 21. His second was a 2–0 loss to Mexico on August 24.\n', '
