Cummings was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. Her father served in the military. Erin lived in Korea, Nebraska and various areas of Louisiana and later grew up in Huntsville, Texas. She graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of North Texas and also studied Shakespeare at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
