After attending Coosa Central High School, Moon attended Meridian Community College where he played one season of college basketball for the Eagles in 1999–2000, averaging 20.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. After playing for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2001 NBA Summer League, Moon joined the Mobile Revelers for the 2001–02 season. He then joined the Dodge City Legend following the D-League season. After playing for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz in the 2002 NBA Summer League, he re-joined the Mobile Revelers for the 2002–03 season.
