Jan Kacper Bednarek (born 12 April 1996) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Aston Villa, on loan from Southampton, and the Poland national team.
In 2013, Bednarek made his Ekstraklasa debut, at the age of 17 years old, for Lech Poznań against Piast Gliwice, in an eventual 2–0 win for the home side. The Polish under-21 international became an integral member of the squad, featuring 31 times and scoring once as Poznań narrowly missed out on the Polish Cup to Arka Gdynia 2–1 after extra time.[citation needed]
He was loaned to Górnik Łęczna for the 2015–16 season, where he managed a total of 17 league appearances before returning to his parent club.
