Jarlin Emmanuel García (born January 18, 1993) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2017. He goes by the nickname Jarlin "The Marlin" Garcia.\n', '
Growing up in Pedro Brand in the Dominican Republic, García played soccer, not trying baseball until he was 15 years old. The next year, his younger sister died of drowning.\n', '
García signed as a free agent with the Miami Marlins in August 2010, receiving a $40,000 signing bonus. He progressed slowly through Minor League Baseball, and was left exposed in the Rule 5 draft after the 2014 season. In 2015, the Marlins assigned García to the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League (FSL). García appeared in the FSL All-Star Game and was chosen to represent the Marlins at the 2015 All-Star Futures Game. The Marlins promoted him to the Jacksonville Suns of the Class AA Southern League in July. In 25 combined starts, García had a 3.57 earned run average (ERA) and 104 strikeouts in 133 2⁄3 innings pitched. The Marlins added García to their 40-man roster after the season, protecting him from the Rule 5 draft.\n', '
