Ferland was born in Quebec City, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1996 and 1997 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from Beauce, Quebec.\n', '
Ferland was the property of National Hockey League\'s Montreal Canadiens and assigned to the American Hockey League\'s Hamilton Bulldogs for five seasons. He was drafted by the Canadiens in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft (7th round, 212 overall) making his NHL debut on January 3, 2006.[citation needed] Previously, he had played for the QMJHL\'s Moncton Wildcats and Acadie-Bathurst Titan.[citation needed]\n', '
