José Canseco Capas Jr. (born July 2, 1964), is a Cuban-American former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder and designated hitter. During his time with the Oakland A\'s, he established himself as one of the premier power hitters in the game. He won the Rookie of the Year (1986), and Most Valuable Player award (1988), and was a six-time All-Star. Canseco became the first player to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in one season in 1988 and won the Silver Slugger award four times: three as an AL outfielder (1988, 1990, 1991), and once as a designated hitter (1998).
