A standout athlete at Arvin High School, Kennedy was drafted in 1968 by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1st round with the 10th overall pick. \n', '
In 1969, Kennedy was named California League\'s most valuable player, while with Stockton. He led American Association shortstops in double plays in 1972 with 80 (for Rochester) and topped International League second basement in fielding percentage with .976 for Indianapolis in 1976.\n', '
On December 4, 1973: Traded by the Baltimore Orioles with William Wood (minors) and Merv Rettenmund to the Cincinnati Reds for Wallace Williams (minors) and Ross Grimsley. At some point before 1977 Season, Kennedy was sent from the Cincinnati Reds to the San Francisco Giants in an unknown transaction, and then on October 20, 1977 he was purchased back by the Cincinnati Reds from the San Francisco Giants. \n', '
