Garcia was primarily a shortstop, playing 459 of his 619 career games there, but he also spent time as a second baseman (120 games) and third baseman (51 games). He was the starting shortstop for the American League champion Orioles in 1979.\n', '
In the late 1980s he operated a batting cage business named Cagey Hitter in Pleasanton, California, on the grounds of the Alameda County Fairgrounds.[citation needed] Garcia is the president and a coach with the KG Hitters girls fastpitch organization in Northern California.\n', '
