Wilson was born in Keyser, North Carolina, in 1896. He stood six feet, three inches tall and weighed 167 pounds. \n', '
Wilson was sometimes known by the nicknames "Mutt" and "Lank". He appeared in three games for the Detroit Tigers in September 1920, two as a starter and one as a relief pitcher. He compiled a 1–1 win–loss record with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.46. He had one hit in four career at bats, for a .250 batting average. His major league career lasted eight days, from September 11 to 18, 1920. \n', '
Wilson also played in the minor leagues from 1916 to 1930. His best minor league season was 1920 when he compiled a 23-21 record with a 4.07 ERA in 387 innings pitched for the Huron Packers (South Dakota League) and the Charleston Palmettos (South Atlantic League). He also appeared in 53 games for the Greensboro Patriots (Piedmont League) with a 26–19 record over the course of the 1928 and 1929 seasons. \n', '
