Porter joined the team during the 1939 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1942 championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal.\n', '
At club level Porter played with Brian Dillon\'s and later with Glen Rovers.\n', '
Porter began his club hurling career with Brian Dillon\'s on the north side of Cork city. He enjoyed little success with the club and later transferred to the famous Glen Rovers club. Although the Glen were going through a golden age, Porter ended his career without a championship medal.\n', '
