After moving to Orlando, Doucette met Rob Thomas and Brian Yale and became part of the band Tabitha\'s Secret. The trio went on to form what would become Matchbox Twenty, which he is credited with naming. For their first three albums, Doucette was the band\'s drummer but with the departure of rhythm guitarist Adam Gaynor, Doucette took over the rhythm guitar duties. The Break and Repair Method drummer Ryan MacMillan took over on the drums for the compilation album Exile on Mainstream with both MacMillan and Doucette playing on the song "How Far We\'ve Come". Doucette returned as the band\'s drummer for their fourth studio album North as well as remaining on rhythm guitar and piano with drummer Stacy Jones taking over for live shows.\n', '
Doucette has written or co-written a number of songs for Matchbox Twenty such as "How Far We\'ve Come", "Overjoyed", "Could I Be You", "English Town" and many others. He also has had a large role in the lighting design for Matchbox Twenty concerts.\n', '
