- Born Aug. 27, 1988
He was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and attended Apex High School before attending University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 27th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft and played in their system from 2010 to 2015. In 2013, he earned a spot in the Arizona Fall League. In 2014, he reached Triple A for the first time. \n', '
He joined the Los Angeles Dodgers system in 2016 and the Cubs system for 2017. One source says, "he checks most of the boxes ... he rarely walks hitters, which is a standard draw for the Cubs brass," in explaining why Chicago signed him.\n', '
