Sonny Douglas Gray (born November 7, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees.\n', '
Gray attended Vanderbilt University and played college baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Athletics selected Gray in the first round of the 2011 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2013, won the American League Pitcher of the Month Award twice in 2014, and was named an MLB All-Star in 2015. The Yankees acquired Gray in 2017, and traded him to the Reds before the 2019 season.\n', '
Gray was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to Cindy and Jesse Gray, and lived in Nashville until his family moved to Smyrna, Tennessee, before his eighth-grade year. His father died in a car accident during Gray\'s freshman year of high school, just as Gray started playing baseball for Smyrna High School.\n', '
