Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was a Spanish artist known for his surrealist paintings, drawings, and sculptures. He was born on May 11, 1904, in Figueres, Spain, and showed an early talent for art.

Dali attended the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, where he met and was influenced by other artists, including Pablo Picasso. He began to develop his own unique style, characterized by dreamlike, otherworldly imagery and meticulous attention to detail.

In 1929, Dali joined the Surrealist movement, which was known for its exploration of the unconscious mind and its use of unconventional techniques and materials. Dali's work from this period includes iconic pieces such as "The Persistence of Memory" (1931) and "Metamorphosis of Narcissus" (1937).

During World War II, Dali moved to the United States, where he continued to work and exhibit his art. He also collaborated with other artists, including the filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock.

Dali's style continued to evolve throughout his career, and he experimented with a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, film, and photography. In addition to his art, Dali was known for his eccentric public persona and his flamboyant sense of style.

Salvador Dali died on January 23, 1989, in Figueres, Spain, at the age of 84. He remains one of the most famous and influential artists of the 20th century.
