As she went through the songs, it brought her back to the start of her career and how they just weren’t right for that particular time or album. Some of the tracks were written before she had even come out and never felt comfortable releasing them, but knew they would be perfect for the box set. In 2013, the singer found herself back at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with her original band (Fritz Lewak, John Shanks, Kevin McCormick) and would give these songs a new life. Shortly after she finished the records, she would part ways with her label and the box set was shelved. Melissa would begin working on new material and once again, those songs were set aside. That is, until 2020 when she was sorting through old files to share with fans on Etheridge TV’s Friday Night Time Machine show. The time was finally right. Negative Gemini is Los Angeles songwriter, singer, and producer Lindsey French known for her contemporary take on electronic indie and her experimentation between genres. After moving to Brooklyn in 2014, the Virginia native released her self-produced album Body Work via her own record label (100% Electronica) earning early comparisons to the likes of Hope Sandoval and Gwen Stefani. Brittany Howard – lead vocalist/guitarist for the chart-topping, GRAMMY®-winning band Alabama Shakes – will release her debut solo album, Jaime, featuring the recently shared leadoff track, “History Repeats.” Howard recorded Jaime after a cross country drive that took her from Nashville to a small house in Topanga, CA – a rustic Los Angeles county town wedged between the mountains and the beach. Do I want people to understand me and know me, do I want to tell them my story? I’m very private, but my favorite work is when people are being honest and really doing themselves.”
